Graphic Christmas

Here's some old work I stumbled across late last night. I love Christmas, from a design point of view and a personal one. Bring on the mulled wine...

Contemporary Whimsical Santa

Here's a snippet of the contemporary style I was looking forward to working in. The full illustration is on my updated homepage on www.kaybdesign.co.uk and is available via Advocate. I'm looking forward to creating some more designs in this style. Hope you like it!

Masculine Pattern

Here's some masculine pattern to re-address the balance! It's an area that in an abundance of florals can be overlooked. There's sometimes nothing better than a simple print. I'm a huge fan of simple spots and stripes when it comes to wrapping presents. These are a variation on the theme.

Novelty Advent Candle Designs

I thought I'd blog some novelty Christmas Advent candle designs I worked on some time ago. They're at a rough stage, but show enough to get the concept across. This flat first stage of working is standard to show initial concepts.

John Lewis Wrap in Store

I had a mooch around the Trafford Centre today, and as usual headed to John Lewis greetings section. It was super to see my candle wrap design in store. The cards and wrap on display were very creative and inspiring as usual. In particular I love some of the single sheet wraps on display. The wrap was designed whilst I was in full time employment, so all rights remain with the company.

Back to Traditional Christmas Greetings

I've finally managed to get back to doing some more traditional greetings. I've created the illustrations large enough to feature on gift bags. I'm looking to doing two more before I move onto a totally different and contemporary style.

Rough Water-doodles

It's been a challenging week as I've got a toddler with tonsillitis, but here's some rough water colour doodles I've done amongst other things. They're not to a finished state, but more a rough first stage as to what I want to achieve for a spread. It's important to play around with styles and finishes - if you can find the time..

Russian Textiles and Folk Inspired Ceramics

I've been working on designs for clients last week and also working towards possibly launching some of my own ceramics, so it's been a busy time. I can't blog my designs but I thought I'd take the opportunity to blog some patterns from one of my favourite books 'Russian Textiles Printed Cloth for the Bazaars of Central Asia'. I love the richness of the patterns and the colours. I've thumbed through this book many times, and used it to help with my graphic folk ceramic design enclosed.
